 Post subject: Silly question I'm sure.

Hello gang! Hope you are having a great day. My question is this...When they say gold only fingered ram...Do they mean on the WHOLE thing? The reason I ask is because the legs on the ICs aren't gold. Let me know what you think please.

gold fingered ram is referring to the gold finger connection where the RAM board physically touches the motherboard... that contact area has to be gold plated.

the chips have to be on the RAM board as well, but it doesn't mean they have to be gold plated.

Gold only refers to sorting gold finger ram from silver finger ram.

Rambus is also gold fingered ram but has its own category
