Is it possible/worth it to get the drive board off of lap top DVD/CD drives?? As they are already so compact and small would taking time to get the drives be worth it??

Only if you intended to break thr entire unit down taking the board off... you get a few pennies for it. The rest of the drive is worth more in the case of subcompact drives from scrap value.

I gave up separating the boards a while ago... unless it is an aluminum body, it wasn't worth the hassle to break down drives for an extra few nickles/dimes. I felt my time was better spent trying to find more computers to scrap.

So does Boardsort pay for the subcompact drives??

I also happen to have a 3.5floppy off of an ancient Laptop which is also a subcompact drive compared to the standard 3.5floppy drive.

Would boardsort pay for them more than a standard 3.5in floppy drive??

Boardshort purchases most drives including desktop and laptop, under the cd/dvd/floppy drive class in miscellaneous.

Your best payout would be to remove the case and board. pop the dlp from the laser assembly. There's a guide in what's inside it part 2.

Sell the board And dlp to boardaort.
The case/frame with motors and stufd attached; if steel will go cbm #3 (10-14c/lb) if aluminium you'll get old/breakage al at 19-27c/lb. If magnesium you'll fetch clean steel motor rate at 25c-40c/lb
