Hello, I’m pretty new here and am almost ready to send in my first couple of boxes of boards. I was going through the buying list here I have a pile of power supply board. Mostly small (under 6” long”) switch mode power supplies, with heat sinks, transformer, rectifier etc... I was wondering where these fall under. Are they mid grade boards or low grade boards?

Thanks!

99.99999999~% of power supply boards are midgrade if green on one side and have at least one IC
Otherwise low grade

Is it worth removing the boards from PSUs?

From cube supplies like modern PCs, and old bricks, no.
From server PSUs; only if you have the patience to clean them. These will usually have enough metals to strip to a metals scrap value worth it to those who wish to.
Rack PSUs and Mega Cubes. Yes. These have pounds of fins for cooling usually a high grade aluminium, sometimes red brass or copper.
Removing the fins, the transformer (or pair) and the largest capacitors will net you a peripheral grade board and metals as well.
The inside cases are almost always aluminium and the outside cases are usually a compression moulded carbon. Easy to identify. They’re 2-5 times larger AND weigh 5 lbs or more; usually 10-15 lbs.
