Found my first Dallas Switch today. My secret? Just looked at the top, and it said, Dallas. Confused me a bit at first, cause the other writing on it was about clocks, etc. Then I looked at a similar board from the same type machine, and found one on there that was real thick also, but with my near dusk vision, could only make out, "do not dispose of in fire"
Now that I have bragged, maybe I didn't find the battery/switch? Maybe Dallas makes really thick chips with the usual 8 or ten legs?

Nope. Still a clock. Dallas is the most wide spread real time clock but other brands make them too.
Dallas is a dead giveaway. Also look out for clock, RTC, and variants in Dutch and French. And the universal clock symbol that looks like an old time round alarm clock with bells.
Some cartridge video games have them too. Much smaller but same dimension aspect. Such as どうぶつの森 on the U64.
8 pins is common. As is 12. But up to 22 depending on multiple technical reasonings.

Luckily, I just stumbled onto this post. I have 175 dual socket 5 motherboards. They all have Dallas clocks. Do these need to be removed before selling? Do they have any value? Thanks!

Yes. Remove all realtime clocks.
