Somebody near me is selling this lot for $25. They’re old. Appear worth it for scrap or no? I’m trying to see what the batteries are made of but I’m guessing probably NiCad or NimH. Boards just peripheral you think?

Look like hand-held CBs. I’ve had a few over the years for travelling.
Boards are usually peripheral but I’ve gotten better out of some brands. What would today class as low and high telco classes.
If CB they’re almost definitely NiMH batteries. Easier circuitry for charging from a car outlet. Only the oldest generations used NiCad.

That’s up to you. Depends on where you are in the country and what local values are. Plus what’s inside the radios.
Can you pass $25? Probably. In the right circumstances. You’re looking at around $5 in the chargers and transformers. Another $5 or so in wire. Maybe more. Probably the same area for boards. If you can sell the batteries locally, NiMH runs 25-40č a pound since they are completely recoverable.
The external antennas may be nickel or chrome plated brass which will add up quickly. Or 400-series stainless which is not very expensive at all.
But the internal antennas are where you make or break on this. High quality radios: you have small silver wire soldered to a nickel rod, attached to the board with small round gold thickly plated copper friction connectors. So gold plate and silver wire and silver-tin solder can add up quickly.
Or they could be Chinese junk with a steel rod soldered to the board. Adding valueless weight. Speakers run in the 10č pp range.
So yes with the right timing in the right location you will more than break even. In the wrong place with lower values or generic metal classing you’ll loose money.

On the other hand if any work they can pop on ebay for $10-$20 easily enough. Selling one or two working ones and the rest dead already has you covered on the investment.
