I have spent the last half hour trying to post from my month old smarter than me, but not smart enough to do what I want it to cellphone. I get the text written, then lose it all when trying to access photos, or else get a photo in the thread then lose it while trying to write a post.
Recently I acquired some old vintage obsoleted in the 70's boards and units such as runway visibility indicators, control tower radio receiver and transmitter and the homing searchlight that lit the sky of my youth with its sweeping beacon, which airplanes followed to the airport, back before planes learned to find their way home in the dark. Most of the equipment is wires and tubes and aluminum cases, but there are a few primitive boards. Unfortunately, the boards are populated with nothing but diodes and resistors, with a few having primitive transistors in a metal can. No gold is visible except the connector pins seem to have a thin plating. At first glance the pins seem to be silvered, as they are black, but that wipes off easily, revealing a bit of gold tone. Given the lack of IC population and the weight of the connector blocks, it appears impractical to ship. Unless there is a secret category that pays well for antique circuits, most of this will probably wind up advertised as vintage collectibles.
Now to figure out how to post a sample photo from mu phone to this thread.

Click edit, on your original; or safer yet click the quote button on my post (this one) and then try to upload the image. Quoting takes no effort to loose it and fills up the text box enough to not have any issues with a photo only post.

You weren’t kidding. One edge of the third board was repaired by a less than perfect tech at some point. Ugly drawn retrace.

I recognise a lot of this. I can’t class it for you though. There’s a fair amount of nickel and tin there. Silver plate. Not sure if there’s enough though.

That’s a batch for Chris to decide on. I’ll forward the post to him in a moment.

Finally figured out the posting, sort of. When attempting to post directly to Boardsort from phone, I get a choose file , but not the "browse" which shows up on the laptop page. So, I think that means I can post a photo straight from the camera, but not from the gallery. However, I found out the secret to sending the phone photos to my gmail: the emailed photos had been blocked previously. The procedure there is to click to share a photo from the gallery on smartphone, filling in my address and a word or two in the text body, then choosing add attachment. This then allows me to access more photos from the gallery, which then will send with no problem. At this point, I download them from my email, and then use the familiar browse feature to pick and choose for the forum. I knw most of you are smartphone literate already, but a few of us need all the simple hints we can get.

I will post a couple more photos of the various types with better visuals and a summary of the amounts.

Again, Chris will have to make the call on stuff like this. It’s not about the materials of the board; but if boardsort can accept it as specialised or not.

I’m just wondering how it got so bad it needed a repair on the top of the board.
Everything about that one screams fubar.
I can’t decide if they should have been court-martialled; or given a medal!

Op: I sent the info to Chris.

Because of the gold plated pins, I would purchase the two boards pictured as Peripheral and take a chance.

For future readers, the fact that there are gold pins on a boarddoes not necessarily auto-qualify for Peripheral. There are plenty of Midgrade ($0.20/lb) boards out there with gold pins.

Its a gamble.
