Online auction has about 350 ShoreTel office phones, in lots of 24 but with the opening bid $25 per lot, I don't see any possibility of getting them for scrap, and that is a lot of phones to try to peddle one at a time to unwilling buyers. At an initial cost of at least one dollar per phone, with office phones listed at eleven cents per pound, looks like a losing proposition. As Shark Tank says, "I'm out on this one" I already have a few dozen office phones that came with previous lot buys.

Well that design when working in good condition run about $5 per unit. The problem is it looks like many sellers give in, or give up, after a few months. The $5 single headsets have to compete with the fairly common lots of 10-25 phones that sell for $10-$50 per lot.
That means sitting on a LOT of phones to move them one by one to people and companies that need just one right here right now.
I agree, I’d pass on that one.
Scrap: 2 peripheral boards and some low grade.

Peripheral....

Will most network phone boards go peripheral? Or is it just those particular phones? There is an auction with several lots of intel phones, I have been tempted to bid on.

Speaking just of the primary boards:
Most fall into peripheral.
The range though is midgrade-high telco.

On average you’ll find peripheral and low telco.

Oh ok. For the right price vs number of phones it might be worth it ;)

I’ve toyed with them in the past. There is, or should be, one in my what’s inside it collection.
With the right model you can score huge just on scrap. Which is why I still grab random units for $0.99-3.99 when I see them at goodwill. But there’s components I can snag from them for sale/trade to cover the lowely peripheral rate.
With bulk lot dumps you can come out ahead on scrap alone if the price is right even on junkers.
