What the heck is it? Lol I see Lost has mentioned it a lot on the forums but I don’t know how to identify it. I may have some currently and if so sounds like I should go the eBay route but I have no idea if it’s EDO for sure

In the simplest terms I can think of...
EDO is multithreaded memory. Unlike multithreaded CPUs though EDO has three threads, not two. Read, write, and transfer.
That’s not actually accurate but it’s the most easily understood explanation.

EDO will almost always be marked. EDO or BEDO.
If you are missing labels. An image is attached.
This image fits multiple formats but 100% of the EDO memory modules.

It may have silver, nickel, or gold connectors. But! It will always be a layered IC. Meaning it’s never flat. It will also always be multiples of two in the memory ICs. 4, 6, and 8 are most common. Dual sided 6, 8, and 12. Anything more Than 8 or 12 is likely just a high capacity SIMM or first gen DIMM. ALL EDO memory is on SIM/SIMM PCBs

So is it basically ANY small, chunky ram modules or is that too broad?

I should probably just post pictures of what I have, huh? Lol

You’re on the right track. But not quite.
All ram from that era looks like the image above.
Crucially (not the company) EDO will never look like modern ram.

Yes. A photo helps. Especially if I can read the I’d numbers.

Starting on the bottom. Compaq is EDO. Obviously, lol.
Ibm is standard n/p SIMMs

Middle picture probably all n/p SIMMs. I can’t find the ibm in my list. :(

Top. All n/p SIMMs
