These IC's gold leg gold top, mostly eproms? 8086? The ones I have looked up are obsolete or no longer manufactured. Similar ones on line, but not the same numbers are offered for 10 to 125 bucks. Have about 90 grams/3 ounces. If 8086 only about $40 for scrap.

They would certainly go into the top category for scrap, however they have value in the vintage computing realm. This is my specialty. If you didn't want to scrap/ebay them, I would buy them (with some more information). My email is my user name dwelling within gmail.

Generic EPROMs with a retail value $5-$10. A bit higher with a test printout.

Any real value (beyond scrap) is in finding something interesting ON the chips. Old bios hacks, firmware, etc. but that’s a realm far beyond scrapping.

lol. I have two assumptions, he intended to contact you by email on selling, or me by email about figuring out anything on them.

Lucky you, Thearchivebooks: I love chopped liver, but then I'm of the age when you ate the whole hog or beef, and hoped your brothers and sisters left something on the table other than gristle. But with age comes certain impairments, such as poor vision and midnight cyberjourney episodes, where attention to detail is minimal. Also, recent cataract surgery eliminated close vision although I can see the fleas on a squirrel back at a hundred yards. I'll contact you wherein you dwell, even though it means a photo journey thru TMobile hell, ie poor coverage.

Correct, Lost. I did not distinguish between the two posts, and was curious as to how to find out if they were "special" and also selling them for more than the approximate one dollar scrap value. I know of your previous mention of an open computer set up for testing components, but that is beyond my capabilities or interest, although were I 50 years younger, I might consider learning how.

Today, an Adr or rPI dumper board can be built for $50 or less.

You would need a ROM dumper (<100), a tester (100-1000), or a programmer (sell you car for a good one).
Actually a programmer is probably not going to help since they require a source and destination chip, or a serial connection

I use donor roms so I also copy the code first then post it to a BBS I still use that catalogues them. If I get a match I’ll look up prices or interest. If not, I blank the rom and move on. The code has been saved.

I don’t actually know what I’m looking at. This stuff is outside my realm. But I’ve found a few interesting matches over the years. Old world apple appears to be a popular find. Which both surprises me and makes me facepalm. People spend dozens to hundreds for those. Yet someone else simply tosses it in a pile eventually. (Double FP as the code isn’t really hard to find online). Font data is another common find. Most though, are just bios.

For me, I just copy the image from my download to a floppy. Plug the disk into the programmer with the rom, and flip the switch. (I know, the horror! Not knowing what I’m doing)
lol.

I keep praying I find some long lost Atari game like Ball Blast. But I’m more likely to win the lottery jackpot during an airplane crash while being struck by lightning in my seat.
