How can you tell if something is an IC chip. I see chips on a board that some say IC and a number and on other boards it say U and a number and both look exactly the same. Is there any certain technique to tell whats an IC chip. If i throw a picture of a whole bunch of IC chips would someone be able to tell me if the bunch is all IC chips. Sorry im just new to the scrapping business looking for a little help.

Thanks so much to you both. Both were a really good help I have a lot better view on IC chips now i greatly apperciate it.
