I hope it's ok to post something like this here. If not, let me know and I will apologize and remove this post.

Heads-up for anyone here who lives in the Detroit, MI metro area (or is willing to drive there for a pickup), there is a large lot of computer equipment being auctioned here:

http://bidcorp.com/AuctionDetails.aspx?auction_id=50198

I unfortunately cannot bid on it myself, because it is my own employer that is disposing of the equipment (otherwise I would!). It would be a conflict of interest if I put in a bid myself.

All of the PC's and laptops are thought to be working and most (if not all) of them are complete with RAM, (not hard drives), CD/DVD drives, Li-ION batteries, etc. If I remember correctly, I think there are some brand-new (as in unused, still packaged) but very old Li-Ion batteries. I have no idea what that Pelco rack stuff is; some other department threw that in (looks like some kind of security camera hub). The Dell PC's are either Optiplex GX620 or 745. The Iomega NAS boxes work, but we just hated using them (would work better for a home office). The DLT robotic tape drive screws up the headers on the tapes you load into it. I don't remember what model the Latitude laptops are, but most of them are Pentium III based.

Current bid as of 10:15am, 8/29 is $50, and there is probably way more than $50 in scrap value. Reserve is met and bidding ends in 2 days (8/31).

But you have to pick it up locally. Pickup is in Pontiac (in one of the "better" parts of the city; on the border with Auburn Hills).

EDIT: I just learned the hard drives have all been pulled, contrary to what I stated when I first posted this. Sorry, no HDD's.
