I have about a dozen films yet to be edited.
Following my GM’s illness and ultimately her death I reduced my scrapping schedule to minimal. My mother got severely sick not long after and ... I well... scrap fell to a least concern.
Once I started to pick up things again we got hit with C19! One of my yards is closed by choice, being a small family business. Another by law. Two more went bankrupt. :’(
So my option of actually getting rid of anything fall to boardsort, and the big green bin once a week.
I’m slowly moving forward and will post old and new stuff over the next few weeks as I figure out what I’m doing in life.

For those interested:
I have built very close relationships, friendships, and it’s every buyer I deal with.
The two that closed have opted to do referrals. Chris is going to end up with far more junk scrap than he bargained for one of these days when I have enough to fill a triple trailer order of steel. ;)
But I’ve agreed with both to buy 100% of legitimate offers from former customers for 75% of BoardSort’s posted rate.
As a plus over the past half dozen weeks I’ve managed to fill holes in some of my personal collections for CPUs, magnetic media. And controller DIPs.

Hang in there LowDos. You still have that upper 384k to explore (ya, I know they say it's reserved for video and system and all of that crap - time for the old expanded memory driver)

Oh? But it’s so much find down here!
Overflows. Underruns. Divide by zero!!!!

Not to mention the dreaded Vector Tuple False error - Walk towards the extended memory area - free reign! unlimited addressing! Miles to go before we sleep!

Ah yes. Though that’s a C-series issue more than the OS.
Low dos, Lodos, faux dos, alt dos... is ultimate a divide by zero issue.
And it’s a problem in most dos systems but didn’t really become an issue until now.

Ignoring the theoretical math aspect of divide by zero ≈ divide by 1.

Overly simplified!
It’s a race fault. Execution time is set in fractions of seconds. And later fractions of fractions. At or after a selected amount of time an answer is returned from a command. But on a significantly fast processor a computation can be completed before the clock cycles have passed and the answer returned is ignored or missed. When the allotted time is then spent and no NEW answer is seen the software sets the answer as nul, on high quality code, or 0.

In standard consumer products if a (div0) is received the system with accept the fault and crash. Paged memory crashes the program (normally) and non pages are will crash the system.
If ee -n (in non OO languages) is set though for making crash logs the process will continue in an error state. And continue to continue until the system is reset. (Hard shutdown). Or the system over heats and bursts into flame.
Crafty engineering has lead to some strange alternates in reality.

Like running Perl in Next via Fshl or a CL in most post BSD systems calling bash inside Fshl.
Here the upper system crashes out but the lower system still has access. Same thing with ZSH in Microsoft DOS.
Now you have direct access to a dead system.

It’s rare. Very few pieces of software ship with ee -n.
But this is why OS/2 refuses to load on modern equipment.

I was wondering why my old tank games ran wicked fast (and caused my incredibly quick demise) on new faster processors. Everything needs a filter or buffer - slow it down - smell the roses - watch the explosion in slow motion, it's amazing...

That’s a slightly different problem.
Here many old games were written with direct machine access. Be it dos, or the 8/16 bit computers, or home consoles.
In emulation a generic device driver is used. (Think MAME)

In translation a buffer is used but the buffer is not controlled. (Kings quest is awesome, Sega classics, not so much).

Porting, where source code is recompiled... is a whole different topic.

Anyone bored whose wanted to know what digital pain is?

Head over to the internet archive and download the AMD64 (windows) binary or Mac64 binary of either Descent (PC) or Altered Beast SC.
And die over and over and over.

Woke up, got outa bed, dragged a comb across my head.
Made my way downstairs and had a smoke.
Looking up, I noticed I was late. (cacha cachucka cacha)
Grabbed my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

Now that's classic programming

I believe that’s the Beatles of memory serves. A bit before my time.
