I was wondering if those medals are solid gold or solid with less karat. years ago I thought they were pure gold but when I realized there were teams with lots of winners that will be too much gold to be 99.9 do you know the formula of those gold (just curious). regards

this year, i believe it was 6 grams of gold and the remaining metal was silver.

gold alloys can be astonishingly low gold content and still look real... I had a batch of 'gold leaf' that was less then 2% gold by weight that looked amazingly like the real thing.

wow that`s why those ingots on ebay look so pretty and now they are selling big nuggets. BTW 6 grams of gold on each medal is good gold amount considering that they make hundreds of gold medals. if I had the opportunity will run as fast as I can for 6 grams of gold too :-)

Honoured mention gold medal for you!

Mls; gold frosting, like for cakes and things, has enough content to trip a rudimentary scanner, but has no recoverable gold so yes; so.... Perity... So shiny...

Wait what were we talking about?

And a note on ebay ingots. If I melt some brass, stick a single gold plated pin in it, and cast an Ingot it's legally a gold alloy. Keep that in mind!
