When selling heat sinks I got into a disagreement with a sorter at the yard his manager scanned the sink in question and told him to buy at what I said then told me they did not buy precious metals and the heat sinks were plated with palidium. I had no Idea what he was talking about

Palladium is a Platinum Group precious metal, looks like silver or chrome plate. I've seen it used on connectors in automotive systems such as airbag controllers. It's fairly expensive, well over $800/troy oz. If your heat sinks are indeed Pd plated, then you may want to send one into Boardsort. Their XRF should read it, then they can give you a value.

I highly doubt the guy knew what he was talking about... in as far as the functionality of a heat sink goes, palladium has no use on one. Palladium has very poor thermal conductivity (compared to silver, gold, copper, and aluminum) and would actually hinder the functionality of a heat sink. Palladium is generally used as a catalyst and electrical contact point for sensitive electronics.

sounds like you got the better end of the deal!
