I have scraped a few fax machines and most likely you will get low and mid grade boards. If newer fax machine you may encounter some peripheral since it is a printer as well.

They treat those as scrap shred material.

Whole they generally don’t want them shipped in.
If you bring them in person you’ll get whatever the recovery shred rate that day is. Generally well under 10c per lb. the recovery shred values jump around hourly so there’s no set price to it. You could honestly get 4c at 10 am and 3 cents after lunch. And half a cent at closing before seeing 6 cents the next morning.
Every company has their own system to reach the valuation but the best idea is to take the following additions per lb.
Steel. Abs plastic. Copper. Aluminium, stainless, low pcb, and heavy wire.
Add the pound rates together. Take the average. Then 10% of that is the current rate.
Escrap like this isn’t taken (by most) as true shred (shredder feed) but as recovery. It’s slightly lower than clean steel shred rates.

I try to stay away from all of those for scrap. They are way to time consuming for very little money in return. When I get them I pull what ever boards and wire I can easily get and the rest goes in the tin pile.
