Still sorting boards for upcoming delivery to Boardsort Have several dozen "width cards" from a Compugraphic Editwriter which was a glorified word processor/printer that made photographic plates for lithograph presses. Each card is about 3 x 5 and has one or two removable legged chips, a gold slot connector and the metal tracings, which appear to have gold plated over copper underneath the solder/tin. No idea what the cards would grade as shown, but I'm sure Boardsort is competent to decide.
My general question: Is there any difference in classification of the round silver window/round gold window/square gold window and the plain no window chips?
A search of the forum showed a user speculating there was a different pricing schedule way back in 2014.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but since I can't get the photo to upload right now ( spends 5 minutes saying upload in progress), and I only have 997 words left on the subject, you will have to wait to see the photo. Also, when upload resumes, I have a "is that really a floppy?" for those of you too young to remember when giants roamed and ruled in the cyber world. Is the current miniaturization of our civilization following natural history, in that a tiny mouse-like rodent did away with the giant dinosaurs?

On pictures; there’s some kicker in there that has to do with PHP (the language) and PhPbb (the website system) that refuses some photos sometimes.
If it doesn’t upload (hangs) just crop it in your photo app, even slightly; and try again.
So without photos for the moment... here we go.
Yes 8” floppy drives are floppy drives. Despite what the base page at Wikipedia says on the format it wasn’t the first nor the largest. A 12 inch disk existed in the late 60s and early 70s. (It happens to be one of the few magnetic formats I couldn’t track down yet for my collection).
There’s also a prototype 22” disk. There’s a patent for it but I’ve never seen anything beyond that, Someone sent me a patent link a while ago.
I doubt a 22” diameter disk had any interest when drum memory cost less and stored more.

On Roms. Every rom with or without legs starts at IC rate.
With gold legs they will move up to a base of Pentium/Mac ceramic

So assuming ceramic having gold pins:
No window: Pentium Mac ceramic
Window no capping: Pentium Mac ceramic
Window with silver capping: Pentium Mac ceramic
Window gold capping: iBM VIA gold cap
Window gold capping with gold line down one side: varies. These are automated code repeaters.
Window gold capping with solid cap underneath: 486 class
Long gold cap with a cutout window or multiple caps across the top: 8086

trying the edited photo

Thanks for the tip. Notice, no gold legs on these chips. However, some I didn't show have a white ceramic with gold around the window and gold legs.

Those are actual gold caps. Looks like intel controllers and socketed
Best guess with gold legs 486 class.
