That more or less depends on the quantity... and what they came from. They do actually test them in quoting. Though unsorted it’s a generalised average of a sampling based on multiple factors
If you’re sending a few dozen they’ll easily sort them them selves based on size and tint before testing. A few hundred, or many many pounds; sorting is more important since random sampling pays on averages. If you’re mixing SATA and floppy drive pins in quantities sorting is far better for you.
I’m not sure how it would work out if you sent 20 pounds of mixed pins. Since I’m never sending more than a few rx bottles of pins...My general rule is to sort by magnet. Insta stick goes in one class. Drags around the desk goes in the second class. Doesn’t stick at all I’ll test the base myself. Sorting out copper from aluminium and brass etc. Each with a separate bottle.
Note: by bottle I reference a PLASTIC bottle, not glass.
