Hello and thank you in advance for your time.
Do I need to sort my gold connector pins according to the type of connector they came out of, before I send them in?

That more or less depends on the quantity... and what they came from.
They do actually test them in quoting.
Though unsorted it’s a generalised average of a sampling based on multiple factors

If you’re sending a few dozen they’ll easily sort them them selves based on size and tint before testing.
A few hundred, or many many pounds; sorting is more important since random sampling pays on averages. If you’re mixing SATA and floppy drive pins in quantities sorting is far better for you.

I’m not sure how it would work out if you sent 20 pounds of mixed pins.
Since I’m never sending more than a few rx bottles of pins...My general rule is to sort by magnet. Insta stick goes in one class. Drags around the desk goes in the second class. Doesn’t stick at all I’ll test the base myself. Sorting out copper from aluminium and brass etc. Each with a separate bottle.

Note: by bottle I reference a PLASTIC bottle, not glass.

Thank you! That helps a lot. I will probably follow your general rule for now.

For non magnetic pins I cut them with a DULL wire cutter on approximately a 45• angle. Should be rough enough to tell electrical copper (red or orange) from high nickel brass (yellow). Which I pitch together most of the time. Aluminium is far less valuable and gets it’s own bottle.
Any nickel and tin base pins will fall into the slightly magnetic category. So you shouldn’t need to worry about them. If you have thick, non Magnetic, silver or grey colour base metal pins that don’t bend or pinch easily I always sort those out as well. Possibly silver (actually I’d probably do an acid test on my own but that’s excessive).
