Basically it's like refining any other white gold or gold plated nickel
Process is the same as recovering gold from anything but you use a NaHCO3 mixture post gold extraction to recover the nickel as opposed to using a saline vinegar mixture to sort out copper.
I'm no chemist though. My limit to refining is Thus. Hcl mixture as posted by moose on YouTube.
melting gold slag to just above gold melt in a kiln and draining gold into a crucible sans slag.
And if wondering no i have not tried melting these myself. I have a yard that pays nickel rate for it
the general consensus is it's a loss incurring in small quantities.
Right now I don't even consider pins anymore let alone platters. i limit my "refining" to gold server boards low population cell boards gold wire isa/xt fingers and video game cartridges.
The pm is there (in theory) (cut one in half and polish the cut edge with toothpaste and a copper brush and have it gama scanned by a pawn shop/jeweler) but it costs too much to do it yourself.
It was a sticky but looks like it got moved... my last visit was in April. Lol.
