Have a couple slightly different sticks of RAM and a couple that are pretty beat up. Also have a gold cap processor I want to check.

Pictures 1-2, Top to bottom:

1 Is basically two sticks stacked together but one doesn't have gold fingers. ICs are present on front and back of each stick.

2 Can't remember where I picked this one up but it says RAID module on one side and has a power connection (?) on the back.

3-4 Looks like someone removed ICS on both of these. The gold fingered one still has 3 of 8 ICs.

Picture 3-4

Pretty sure this is a 486, is that correct?

Ram
1&2 are gold ram. 3 is now a ‘blank’ and is gold finger card. 4 has been butchered. Someone put that in an acid bath. Way too many boards to acid ratio. Now peripheral, and only barely. Any more damage it wouldn’t make it.

Definitely a 486. The 586 is AMDs version of the overdrive.

Thanks for the info!

On #4 in pics 1-2. I could be wrong but the stick was silver/tin RAM and doesn't look like it's been chemically treated, just physically removed of the ICs. Is it still peripheral in that case?

Tried to get a better photo, I can see (hopefully it's visible in the picture) where the circuitry ripped up with the solder points of the chips, which is why I think it's just physical damage.

Ohkay. I can see that now. Your flash or lighting threw me; half silver (colour) half gold. Which is always a giveaway for a bad acid bath.
in that case the board is midgrade.

Thanks again Lost.

Good information to have, never know what I'll run across.
