I have some stuff but I have no idea what to grade them as or what to remove or what not to? A little help for a rookie?

So what is worth shipping and what is just better off being depopulated. I don't have much of the higher grade stuff looks like so what is of value on the peripheral and midgrade? (Keep in mind all I can identify on my own is heat sinks, ic chips, capacitors, and transformers)

If you go to the top of the page to "Payout Rates", using the descriptions that Lost gave you, you'll be able to get the amount you'd receive for those descriptions/categories.

In many cases, leaving the board as is, will net you the better return for your time. Unless you're a collector of certain parts from these boards, or a hobby refiner, you're better off leaving the boards alone and turning them in as is.

As Lost pointed out, remove the heat sinks. And on PC/computer mother boards and some other boards, always remember to remove the batteries.

If you get a hold of mother boards from PCs, Laptops and some other PCBDs, there will be CPUs and various ICs that may reside in a socket that you can remove the CPU or IC from. In those instances, pulling the CPU and/or IC can net you two different categories. You'd have the mother board you took the CPU from that you can turn in, and you'd have the CPU that you can turn in. If the ICs are soldered in, leave them alone.

Read up on some of the older posts, look at pictures, reference the "Payout Rates" section. You'll get the hang of it.

Never hurts to post up your pictures and ask questions, lots of good folks on here to help out when you're in a pinch.

Have fun!

As far as shipping.

You'll have to contact FedEx, UPS, USPS or other shippers in your area.

Determine the weight of what you have and go from there.

This Forum has a number of folks who can chime in as to what the best method for shipping might be. There are many here who have come to a conclusion and shipper that best suits them, so may be different for each individual. Some folks live close enough that a drive to the facility is the better route. Obviously, that won't work for most people though!
