This was in a metal shell with gold pins on the one end.

When I pulled the card from the metal shell, I ripped the card from the very small gold pins. Now I have to attempt to pluck out the gold pins from the plastic. Not what I intended, but that's the way it went.

Any idea what the card was? Or still have the shell with a label on it? I’m trying to figure out what would possibly put that much sealant on top of ICs without being military grade.

The cover only had these words on it...

ACEcard 512KB Ram Memory Card all done up '70s or early '80s style font.

It was loose in the box with all the calculators, day planners, HP PalmPC and a Rockwell type of PalmPC as well.

Have not opened up anything yet that it would have gone in. Sorry...

And that answers my question... pocket ram for a pocket computer.
I’ve seen the computers but never saw the ram card. Early pcmcia. Explains why the pins ripped off too! ;)

If you don’t come across one in your ‘batch’ the “pocket” era stuff was a cross between a giganticly thick mega phablet phone or any early PDA.
About as thick as 3 or 4 galaxy’s or iPhones stacked together. And with less power than a modern $50 microwave oven.

And no; I don’t pay attention to the topic subjects. Lol

Hey, no worries about not reading the subject line.

I'm just happy your'e replying to my posts!!!

I'm not certain there are many, if any forums that have someone with an in depth knowledge pertaining to what we're interested in as you have. That, is willing to spend their time answering posts on a regular basis in this area of scraping.

There are millions of different electronic gizmos, gadgets etc that have been produced over the last several decades. You seem to have a good knowledge of the history of quite a few of these items. I like the historical aspect of this hobby as well. Glad you're here!

You give me too much credit; but thank you.
Actually I’m just really good at writing automation macros. ;)
Seriously, I just have a massive database of cross referenced part numbers, basic SQL understanding, and good OCR software to turn my scans into searchable text.
Personally I find it enjoyable to make old junk do new things. That translates to a bit of understanding of what makes things do what. And stubbornness. Telling me it can’t be done isn’t a fact, it’s a challenge.
It also explains my love for the Saturn; the most convoluted and hated gaming platform (from a programming standpoint) of all time. :D

Seriously, never got one with the card installed. Probably because every laptop and many desktops had PCMCIA sockets

first year out the design was a top 5 greatest invention list maker.
Year 2 the pPC format was dead and a “worst of” list topper.
