I'm getting ready for my first shipment to Boardsort. I would appreciate some help grading and sorting these boards. I think most of them are peripheral grade but I just wanted to be sure before I shipped them.

There’s enough copper on the following to probably make a jump to:

2)midgrade

lostinlodos,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. That was very helpful!

Is there a simple way to distinguish between peripheral and midgrade?

I have a few more small boards that I am trying to sort so any help you could give would be appreciated.

Peripheral has had its cutoff diminished a few months ago.
With the restructuring peripheral has generally eliminated the “junk” weight.
So now:
Peripheral must have ICs
It must not have more steel, aluminium, tin, etc weight than the IC weight
It can not have any heavy metals, which eliminates most vhs style control boards due to the vacuum sealed glass display

The bottom line is the board should be worth approximately the value of the components.
6 ICs on a board the size of the credit card will probably get high telco.
Add a few aluminium capacitors you will see it drop to low telco.
Add a small transformer and you’re down to peripheral. A large transformer and you’re at Midgrade.
Those same six ICs on a full size PCI card would go as gold finger card.
Trim the fingers you have have a trimmed card.
But if you didn’t have fingers in the first place it would go as a peripheral board. The larger board reduces the value to weight ratio.
6 ICs on a full size rack server board, and nothing else (even with the gold connector such a board would require) would be midgrade. Just too much board weight.
