I always hesitate on those cards. But yes generally they are gold finger cards.

As far as scrapping, the phones are worth more whole.

Per your reply in regards to the phones being worth more as a whole, does this go for smart phones as well? These are old smart phones that i have. Are they still worth money on eBay or how should i send them to Boardsort?

Analogue “brick phones” are always worth more as boards than whole.

Candy bar and large bag phones are usually worth more as boards but not always

Flip phones are worth more whole

Feature phones are usually worth more whole

Smart phones are usually worth more as boards

Sealed smartphones are worth more as boards but removing the soft battery involves some risk

Keyboard Blackberry is worth more as boards

eBay: $1-$10 working. $0-$2 dead. (General).

Remove the batteries and tape over the contacts on the battery.
Place batteries in a safe container. Like a small box in the larger box for shipping.
Place loose phones in box.
Place other items in box.
Fill out quote form and print
Remember to put order in box. [1]
Tape. Purchase GROUND shipping label from Usps, ups, or Fedex. Drop off package or request pickup.

[1]
You forgot to put the order in the now sealed box. Take out packing list plastic sticky envelopes
Fold order multiple times. Still doesn’t fit. Get mad. Recycle crinkle ball order. Reprint and try again. Still doesn’t fit. Reprint and try again. Get madder.
Reopen box. Place order inside. Tape up box again.
You have no idea how many times I’ve done this.

Hahaha, thank you for the heads up. I hate selling things online. Way too frustrating. Plus, stripping electronics and organizing boards is a hobby of mine. Boardsort will receive at some point in the future! Although stripping phones and laptops, im not the biggest fan of. They always pile up until I dont have anything else to strip.

The ebay numbers only fit the two you posted.

And you seriously have no idea how many times I’ve packed up a large multi box order only to find one order sheet left on the counter.

Chris has pointed this out. It’s a surprisingly easy to do common occurrence.

Part of the reason Chris suggests emailing with your order number and shipping tracking after you complete the order is when you forget the page for inside the box: it can be tracked down in the warehouse. Don’t kick yourself over it. Just be glad you also have the tracking number. You did keep that right lol

Lost,
You are talking about phones such as Apple iphones?

Yes. Etc.
And in generalities. There’s obvious exceptions to all of these.
Think about it though. A sealed phone is worth half the value of a phone without battery. The battery is normally the second heaviest component after the screen.
So you remove the screen (and sell it, very easy to sell cell screens even cracked or damaged). Remove the batteries and recycle them for free at Best Buy, or Ace, or Home Depot RTC.
What do you have left? A peripheral board and some cell phone boards. Small gold antenna connectors which Chris will buy at a custom rate. Some gold plated wire. Wire as is but you could strip it for gold pin rate. 300 or 400 series stainless.
A single phone isn’t worth stripping. But ounce by ounce, part by part, sealed phones in quantity will definitely pay better broken down.

Oh ok. I have tore down a couple of motorola flip phones, but never a sealed phone like an iphone.

I do have 3 iphones that I have been debating what to do with. I havent figured out how to get into them with out destroying the whole thing.
