Bottom row all periph

Top row all need to be torn open, to expose the board and remove unwanted metal and plastic weight. A pair of pliers can peel back the tin from either a seam or a corner, some times a little prying is needed, just don't crush the board before you get it out

2&3 peripheral, 1 is something higher, either hi telco or possibly hard drive board or memory, those decision need to be made by Chris, I have an SSD board, similar situation, I'm just gonna hold onto it until I have ~1lb of that particular exception (non standard board based memory units in this case) then email

EDIT: unlike an gold fingered SSD this board has the same (pci?) Connector as a hard drive boards, so leaning heavily towards hd board

The SSD is at least high telco. (It’s SATA, pci connectors are finger, edge connectors).
I’ll email Chris for a definitive on SATA SSDs like this one.
I’d expect a reply by Tuesday normally. So I’ll come back to this. This may ultimately qualify as HDD board.

PCIe SSDs are going to be hit and miss. Ultimately they will settle into a set of standards for recycling depending on some qualifications but at the moment it’s in the air and graded one by one.
Some like Samsung have a full controllers on board, and a large compliment of memory modules.
Others like turbo cards and boosters are simply a small collection of 16gb cells and are dependent on the motherboard for access, timing, control. Etc. And as such are lower grades. Gold finger card and high telco.

i look for those to get there own grade soon enough the ones that where around in 2015-2017 outa be reaching the read/write limt pretty quickly.-

Ok: official response.
SATA/SAS will go as Hard Drive boards.
Non SATA/SAS (finger boards) will go as high telco.


Evil is also most likely correct
Early SSDs are coming up on their life expectancies now. And with that I’d expect a separate category for SSDs with 3-4 classes. In time.

People forget two facts with SSDs as they’re only recently popular public consumption items. Modern-ish SSDs are more than 15 year old technology.
SSDs were not (and in most cases still are not) designed as a primary hard drive. They were meant to be used like LTO tapes are used today. WORM. Write once (or rarely) read many.
Most file systems don’t work well, thrashing the drive cells.
Microsoft came up with ReFS which pushed the heavy writing to a specific cache. Then abandoned it. Apple has the right idea with APFS.
On Linux, and Unix and some higher end versions of Windows you can use EXT3 or EXT4.
You can go crazy and install your OS on something like FFs, for Flash Filesystem, but most can’t do that.
Some companies have found the solution in intricate levelling code built into the controller. Such as Samsung and Intel drives.

But most drives created before 2016 are going to start to error out soon. The drive will start to shrink. Unless it’s stuffed full the 900-some gigabyte drive you have (1TB) will slowly shrink (in available space, not reported size) to the 800s, 700s, etc. That’s because the controller is marking off sectors past their lifespan permanently. So a 200gb SQL backend database could easily kill a 2015 SSD by now if the DB logged fully and extensively used.

Questions have been showing up on popular help sites for over a year now about why a terabyte drive with 500gbs of data is showing as only 200GBs free. As an example.
As software catches up people are going to start to notice more. Especially with many early windows 10 installations being on 80GB-150GB flash drives.
They will Swap out drives. Increase the scrap pool. And make us all happy with boards to sell.
