 Post subject: CD board

I took this card out of an old CD reader from a computer. By default I’m considering it CD board but would it get bump to low telco?

But cd board is higher. Why take a downgrade

One of the ICs in the image appears to be socketed. Could it be removed without downgrading the board?

If you’re talking about the Sig m1 chip
No. That’s one of the principal controllers needed for an optical or tape board to be that class.
