Top photo.
There’s a billion slightly different layouts and each with its own rules.
I’m exaggerating but they still get me flustered a bit. I always second guess my grading on them.

Like this one. A backplane, with an edge connector and chips. But without the chips it would be:. But add a black fibre or ceramic that has been anti-binned and well that’s high telco.
One more socket and the sockets weigh more than the board. So backplane or low telco?
And if you cut the finger off is it trimmed finger card or peripheral. What if they used a 960 instead of 860? That has to lower the value a bit right? But if they use an AM series controller the price goes up, unless it’s a plastic AM and then the price goes down right?

Yep... like docking station boards these are the other class that I can’t help but WAY overthink!

Have at it. I wasn’t knocking you. More grumbling openly.
‘Oh know this is different than the last 20 posted’!

Breakout risers and docking stations are the two post 70s computing devices that have no standardisation. It’s as annoying in tech work as it is in scrap aspects.
Every implementation is designed for a very specific case. IBM was a notorious abuser of non-standards in the late 80s and early 90s with “enhanced architecture”
Dell and HP took over from there.
By the late 2000s through today most technicians actually just scrap them now rather than attempting any repairs on breakout risers.
Custom silicone has become so commonplace that it’s now less expensive to replace than bill man-hour repairs.

That leaves scrap companies like like Chris trying to commoditise custom parts and someone like me scratching my head trying to be fair to both parties.

For the love of coffee these companies need to just stop! I screamed about this nonsense in 1990. 2020 and they still haven’t figured it out! Is saving 3/100ths of a cent per board really worth tech, and thus customer, anger when it stops working.

Ok rant over.
Feel free to post away. That’s why we’re all here.
