The individual cards socketed on the large card can be removed. They're Memory expansions. And each one will go as rambus rate.

I believe what you've got there is an old IBM PC memory expansion board. Those little boards with the metal caps are the memory SIMMs.

Exactly it's a direct call memory expansion. Was a good idea that was poorly implemented. Only worked on a few short lived lines like on the ps/1 and and compaq desk go if you ever got it to work at all.

Very early version of the ibm memory design from RTP in Carolina that eventually became rambus.
