Will removing the small transformer upgrade this board
Also any value in relays?

Yes. In this exception you can remove the transformer to get peripheral rate.
Just to be safe I'd remove that big hvlt capacitor too. Discharge it, pull it vertically to pull it off the pins, they have a naughty tendency to self charge. Zap.


I sell them to my yard for cbm#2 when they won't crack open easily. If xou can smash it the metal will be nickel, silver, or some combination of, or ...plated on Brass or copper.
