Magnet doesn't stick...eyes popped when I got these pieces out of the casing.

File comment: These pieces came from the inside of a case that was attached in the housing/control panel on a scrap Maytag washer that was a 20 year old well built model according to the part #...

Generally gold is not plated onto aluminum... there isn't really a reason to. And since you said it was from a washer, I would be more skeptical of it being gold. Usually gold plating is used when contact resistance is a concern or for EM shielding. Neither of which is very important for a washer.

That being said, it doesn't hurt to have it tested. Set it aside and when you find someone that can test it for free, have it checked out. If it is plating, an acid test should work, if its an alloy (which the contact points could be) you may need to find a jeweler with an XRF gun. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hah yeah I was just shocked at how much it looks like 10k at least to me. Only the tips of some of the strips were showing until I took it apart. However like you said if it was any gold content in it what's the point of that much? I did scratch and cut but it's still hard for me to tell and what you said makes sense.
