Sorry if this is a dumb question but do these parts differ from a newer computer value wise? I know that older computers, especially processor chips, contain more gold etc. than newer age comps.

I got a little excited when I found this old comp on the curb. I believe its from 97-98. Will the old hard drive contain anything different than newer drives?

Going by the last pic you posted, no 1 is possibly large socket. Remove the dallas real time clock box, it contains a battery.
No 2. is a gold finger card.
No 3. is Pentium ceramic.
No 4. if that ram has gold fingers then gold ram, if silver colored, then silver/tin ram.
No 5. is a hard drive.
No 6. Gold finger card.
No 7. either gold finger card or backplane, not entirely sure
No 8. Probably peripheral.
No 9. Not sure
Again, wait for lostinlodos to chime in and make sure I'm right on these!

1 is a large socket

7 should be good for Backplane

8 looks like a cd/dvd board from a caddy cd-rom. Or a very high end floptical. Regardless I'm going to say cd/dvd board.

9 is midgrade.
