I believe they are just ceramic chips not sure if amd or pentium category

Unfortunately that top weighs as much if not more than the chip does. We buy those as P4 (you can see it in our material database). But if you can manage to pop the top off (without damaging the chip) we can purchase it as an AMD ceramic.

Will removing the metal off of any CPU upgrade it? I've never tried, worried I would damage it. Also, is there an easy way to remove the metal?

If you manage to get the top off without damage it would pay the same as an AMD Ceramic but good luck with that, those caps are tight.
