Battery backed ram.
Will go as rambus.
Do NOT attempt to remove the batteries

You should remove THE BATTERY PACK, especially if you are mailing the material in. The board will go as gold finger ram and then tape the terminal of the battery and it will go as lithium-ion battery. it is imperative you tape the terminal before storing them to avoid shorting them. The battery packs are actually really easy to remove, those ones are held to the board by plastic clips that, when you press , the pack will pop off.

That being said... DO NOT remove the really nice looking gold plated contacts on the battery pack. They are soldered/welded to the battery caseing and any tampering runs the risk of rupturing the battery.

DO NOT remove the batteries from the black plastic casing either!!! Those batteries can give you a nasty shock and have a lot of juice behind them... and you do not want to run the risk of shorting them and having them blow up (in the literal sense)! That, and Boardsort wont buy them then.

In addition, if you see a pack that is bulging, DO NOT mess with it... it means that a battery is ready to rupture and the contents are under pressure. Lithium is a nasty material and not to be messed with.

When it comes to Li-Ion batteries... remove the whole pack, tape the terminal, and leave it at that.

I've just left it on in the past and sent an email letting them know or maybe it was at the text box on the last page of the quote I'd made note of it.
and it went rambus but I (guess) you could attempt to pull them loose.
Especially if they're as easy to remove as mls says. Mine were hard soldered.
Personally I wouldn't. Lithium is not a toy to mess with.
I wrapped them in bubble wrap. Sent it whole.

Soft lion batteries just scares the crap out of me.

But yes if removed and have gold terminals would go as cell phone battery and the ram would be gold finger ram.
