Green fibre with metal class

Those were the best of both worlds CPU design. The board layout put everything the CPU accessed directly on a single bus system on a single board for speed increases in timing (like slot processors) but without the latency in CPU to board com by using a direct access PGA socket.
Still can't figure out why the design method died off. Can you imagine an AMD Fx CPU or a core i7 with near zero latency!?!
