I pulled these boards out of a small tv. I know they're low grade but wondered if I should take anything off of them before tossing in the cheap pile.

that really depends on how much it costs you to get material to boardsort.

I am a 10 minute drive away, so i have no real shipping costs to consider. If you live 10 hours away, you have to figure out how much it would cost you to send the stuff. As a general rule it is not worth while to send in anything below peripheral if you are shipping in small packages. For low grade boards, you are best taking of higher value components like IC's and send them to Boardsort while taking lower grade things like transformers and inductors and turning them into a local scrap yard for copper breakage material (CBM)... or, if you are lucky, they may take the whole board for a given price.

If you are not particularly close to Boardsort, I would take the whole board up to a local scrap yard and ask who ever is in charge what they would give you for the whole board and what they would give you for the individual components.
