Here are some boards out of an IBM 520powerserver. How should they be graded?

Looks like you'd be ok as long as it's the dip EPROMs and the square flip chips but not any of the metal capped ones.

On the other hand if you want to remove socketed metal cap ones they'll be green fibre with metal and leave you with a small or large socket mobo or peripheral. Depending on what all you pull so you're going to need to do your weights and calculations to figure where you'll be at.

For the telecomm board with gold fingers on it. Can the fingers be trimmed off and still maintain telecomm? My thought is yes, but wanted to be sure.

You can remove the ICs or the fingers here but not both.

Don't trim the ram board or it will drop to peripheral for a major loss to you.

I didn't realise it was gold. They're usually brass or aluminium.
My I know was in reference to it being epoxy not fibre. Same cpu in both photos.

If it really is gold it would get cyrix/ibm/via gold cap.but I've not come across one of those with a gold shell before myself.
