I have several of these Cisco switch boards and have been searching through posts to see if I could find something similar, but decided to just ask your thoughts on grading these. (Pic1)

And then I saw a post that someone showed a Dell laptop dock board and it was suggested it would be large socket. i wanted to double-check it. (Pic 2)

Switch boards like that range from peripheral to telco so it's usually good to post a pic.
In this case that will be peripheral.

That Dell board will go as [edit]peripheral[/edit]
See the follow up

I don't want to step on any toes here, just want to help.
Actually I had asked Chris about docking station boards a couple of years ago and was advised by him they would be peripheral grade, and that's what I have done since, but things may have changed?
If you will look closely at it,what appears to be memory slots,is actually where the laptop mounts at,also, there is no CPU socket on docking stations like this,( I have literally broken down hundreds of these)
The Cisco board is also a peripheral board,I've done a lot of those too(wished they were better,LOL )
FWIW, Hope this helps to avoid disappointment and confusion

You're not. This is a case where reality crops up on the generalisations. And also correct that the ports I glanced at are general ITX bus and not ram.
You (Chris) are correct in that 95ish percent of docks go as peripheral.
The exceptions being small socket or telco
Where docs for Alienware and falcon et al have full fledged video and audio cards in them it's not even a second look to see they're telco.
In cases like this; some Dell, some HP, and many iBM docks ; the jump here is the same rules as embedded/all-in-one ITX boards.
Does it have a cpu or cpu socket. Yes
Does it have a co processor or coproc socket? Yes
Does it have ram expansion? No
Does it have external gold pin ports? Yes
Does it have bus expansion (ide/pci/pcix/PCIe)? Yes

On review the missing ram sockets are the killer . Peripheral it is.to the above the lpc 4x Works as a CPU when all else is present.

I don't usually deal with laptops myself being more of a server tech regarding modern systems. I redirect customers who want laptop work done. It's very specialised and it's not my specialty.
But I've have network switches all over the board (no pun intended) in classing from poor old midgrade (with so many transformers and capacitors it actually wasn't that bad a payout) to telco. With most being peripheral and telco. About 50/50 split. Switches and server/mini equipment in general is about the weight offset. Is there enough high grade to offset the heavy ports.
This one is definitely peripheral.
