they are RAM chips... most likely from some very old memory cards. you are looking at chips from around the 80's there. I do not know if Boardsort will take them as IC's though because of the aluminum casing.

I have a couple old memory cards from an ancient x186 computer that was made in '79. I set them aside because they looked pretty neat and are now sitting in my collection of e-scrap :P

I was thinking those lines but wasn't quite sure. Like bubble memory but it's a configuration I'm not familiar with (aluminium shells on them). Most of iBM's bubble memory has a nickel Case and smal square aluminium sink in the centre of the top.
Though the design is nearly identical to the Motorola MBM cells.
Can you pop the shell off one?
