So my brain tells me Backplanes. Any thought on these?

Those will probable get telco because of the thicker pins, flashing, and middle layer

Telecom grade is always good to hear.
Now, I was under the impression that telecom classification had almost everything to do with the volume of chip population on a given board, assuming its devoid of transformers and the like.
In this case, you're saying its all about the pins. In your experience, excessive amounts of pins would fall under the telecom category?
I almost never run across server boards of this size or magnitude; the 4 of these that I have are in excess of 22 lbs in total.
I can always send them a few pics for clarification, but in your opinion, they won't frown upon the thickness of the board or the black connector ports on the left hand side?

Without holding your board in hand I can't tell you for 100%.
But I have sent quite a few server backboards which have almost universally been telco when of this design.
There's a thick triple ply metal layer and a LOT of gold PLATIng making them more valuable than a standard backplane.
I don't see the diagonal silver hash lines in the mount holes that would mark a silver rather than gold internal layer. Hence my opinion of telco here.
Yes they are heavy.

Telco is based on the PM (precious metals) content, in most cases being beyond a massive amount of ICs and CMCs and CPUs.
On the other side though much aerospace, military, and "rugged" equipment falls into telco because of the thick layers of gold in the "sandwich" of the board.
Many scientific calculator and large tablet boards go in telco as well, having too much board weight for a cell board classification.

I have always gotten backplane for those... Not sure why Lodos would have gotten telecom, but if he did then he did. At the least you will get backplane though.

I have seen a couple backplanes with good chip population that bumped them up, so there is that possibility.

Also, I have seen a few with pins on both sides and maybe they would bump it up because of that? I think that could be a good possibility, just my two cents though.

Could have just been timing? I was actually getting ready to send a few so I'll shoot chris an email and find out for sure. I've got one almost identical to the second to send.

I see now they're different boards (looked again).
The first one is definitely backplane, it's a nickel board.

It's the next one worth a second look, the gold sandwich board.
They will at the very least be backplane and they kind of stand out in ANY shipment so even playing it safe and marking them backplane on the quote, if they qualify for an upgrade you'll definitely get it. Hard to NOT notice one of these! ;)
