Can I pull the ic's with out down grading them?
Do I need to pull the screens?

Yes, those are automotive boards. It's the sealant that causes the class be it from a car, a dishwasher, or a washing machine.

I would advise against pulling anything out of boards in this class. The difference between automotive and low grade very, very, slim

That's what I thought. We had a some storms over the weekend and lightning zapped them. They came out of oilfield communications equipment, for free I'm not going to refuse them ;).

Lost,

FYI.....I sent these boards in as automotive without box, Chris emailed me today they upgraded those boards to telco. I did remove the screens and pulled the large scocketed IC's. What would make this telco, or is that a question for Chris?

They aren't actually "automotive" boards. Well let say it this way they didn't come out of vehicle. What those are are from is remote communications equipment they use to monitor oil and gas wells down here.

I’ve got two thoughts
1: you got lucky
Or
2: what I assumed was nickel or plating was actually silver?

Or maybe the sealant wasn’t as problematic as I expected. Ultimately you’d need to ask Chris. Id like to know as well! I’ve sent sealed boards from nautical equipment that went as automotive. Yours is outside my experience.
Bottom line; very happy for you. That’s a MAJOR upgrade
:O

I emailed Chris a few days ago and not gotten a response as of yet. I'm guessing he is either really busy or just missed the email or maybe both.

Be interesting to find out. I’ve never had a coated board get beyond peripheral. That’s the furthest off I’ve ever been in a grade too! :(

As I always say there’s so much more to learn.
