If I removed the metal on a cpu that's classified as a green fiber with metal will it then be considered a green fiber without metal. this sounds like a dumb question but I'm just not sure if they would disqualify it for some reason. Also if I have cpus that have had the pins scraped off but had pins at one point will they fall in pinless or another cateagory.

if you remove the metal cap, yes, they will upgrade it to fiber w/o metal. keep in mind that some of them are extremely hard to remove, so weight the effort and risk of injury to determine if its worth it to you.

If you remove the pins, I do not know if they will take them at that point. That is where the bulk of the value is on the non ceramic CPU's. If you take them off, it isnt worth much to Boardsort. I can tell you that those kind of pins are very low yield and hardly worth taking off. They bring in ~0.5-1.0g of gold/lb of pins, so take that for what its worth.

If you break the cpu you can quickly wind up in the peripheral class, not CPUs. So be careful. Chris has suggested boiling them in the past. I've put the cap side down on a commercial coffee pot heater for a few minutes. Sometimes it works sometimes not.

CPUs without pins are pinless class.
