These are some of the better boards out of an old projection tv. I thought projection TVs had dLPs but I couldn’t locate one.

Lost can you help me understand why that tan/brown board is peripheral? I thought for anything mid grade or better it needed to be green on both sides - was that just my misunderstanding or is this an exception to the rule?

Cause I might need to dig through my low grade bin again lol

It usually is... but I could see that they MIGHT upgrade that because of the IC chips on the one side.

To be honest, I would just throw something like that in with mid grade... if you want the value for the IC chips, then rip them off and toss them in with other IC's... It is much better to do it that way then to bring them 25 tiny boards and ask them about every one.

They are always pleasant and helpful and all, but sorting through a box of small boards is not what they want to be doing. I try to help them out as much as possible and bring in my material in known categories even if it costs me a couple pennies here and there. And when I have question (which is often), i limit it to a board or two at the most.

That's just my two cents... not sure if its worth much :P

MLS has it. 3 ICs and what I believe is gold pins. If the pins are silver or nickel it slips back to mid grade. If they’re gold they get the same EXCEPTION as floppy drive controllers, tape drive controllers, etc.

Those exceptions to the rule only covers very specific mostly smaller boards. Aside from early smart remotes (gold flashed brown board with 4 ICs)
And brown motherboards from 80s kit computers which are small/large socket or telco
the brown board must have ICs AND Pins/Fingers AND be small to make peripheral.

And if you’re wondering about motherboards from kit computers: theres one here. This one is green but many of these, including some 99/ boards, are brown or red as well.

Thanks guys and yeah I was wondering on that because they are gold pin and amount amount of ic ratio on the little tan board, I have 3 of them out of the same unit. I’ve never seen those aluminum boards also do I had to ask on them too. I was hoping for a dlp out of the tv but no such luck :(

Those aluminium backed boards normally are inside a plastic case. It’s quite rare to see one naked, unless someone removed the case.

As for DLP. They will always be marked as such right off. And anything smaller than 46 inches is probably not going to be dlp. There were some bizarre sets out there that were 36, 40, 42 inches wide and around 4 feet deep. They were used as in wall sets that backed into a ventilated control room, and were over priced for what they were. And didn’t last. But, I’m ranting about history again.

These two aluminum boards were connected to heat sinks off a board that looked a lot like a regular CRV curcuit board with slight modifications

Sounds right. Wasn’t implying you did something; just that you almost never see them attached to a board naked.
