Ceramic chips are usually brown in color and are about twice as thick as fiber CPU chips. CPU manufacturers went to using fiber mostly after the year 2000. Most common ceramic chip types are first generation Pentium chips and AMD chips up to the last K6-2 chips, which used aluminum tops to engrave the chip specs onto the chip after manufacturing.
