once i had a box full of these myself and asked him about them and he said they probably would not be interested but that was a few years ago and things have changed a bit so ask him.

From what I’ve sent, anything mostly to completely depopulated is going to be low grade as long as the board itself was peripheral or Better when you started.

Mid/low grade boards that are depopulated will be ‘accepted’ but you won’t get any cash for it. Boardsort gets little to nothing for them themselves. They get tossed in the same shred pile as printers.
I bring my depopulated boards (always mid/low grade to start) to the same yard I sell my iron and steel to. And get a better rate than BS can offer because they sell bulk to a copper company. Normally 5 cents to 15 cents pp depending on copper and plastic values.
(Gold blanks I send to Chris; because I like Chris and maybe he’ll make something off it I couldn’t.)
Stuff like that (and blanks) are outside of the escrap field, including boardsort, on how they’re recycled.

Here’s a number for you:
1 lb of bare gold flashed boards (like your final picture) will bring about $1-$3 in deconstructed raw materials BEFORE costs are subtracted. Depending on the size of the operation they’re worth $0.10-$0.25 per lb at the absolute top of the chain. And that’s for gold flashed boards. Figure those empty brown boards are worth less than a penny per lb: plastic, wood fibre, some tin from traces, copper is unlikely. No pm. They may be able to extract some carbon bonds but it’s generally worth 0.

Thanks evil. I kind of wondered after I posted if I’d maybe I should ask since some things have changed over the last year or so in their supply chain. It’s been longer than that since my last blanks went in. Didn’t ask for money and didn’t get any then so I take it no blanks at all now. Makes sense looking at other changes.

Again try a local yard for that stuff. They may give you steel rate for it.

i would not say that there is a difference in boards that are sold ''clean" such as manufactured blanks from ram and others sources for example those ceramic boards from x-ray machines that appeared here a while ago.

and what we have above.

Let me rephrase. Since I ship Fedex where size is more important than weight for pricing I occasionally use depopulated boards on the edges of boxes to stabilise the packages. Rather than the thin wood frames some others use.

Means then Chris and Bruce et al can make a few extra penny’s from my packing materials as well. =)
