Hello there,

I have been disassembling a few hard drives in order to get the plates out to sell them separately. I found this needle that makes the plate spin but it is attached to this copper color film like ribbon. My question is: is this considered a cable? I am attaching a picture of it for your review.

Also, when disassembling LCD monitors or lcd displays from laptops I see a few inches of sort of the same copper color film like ribbon when peeling off the finger boards. Should I be saving these as well (as cables). I'll be attaching a picture as well.

Thanks a million!

The lcd wire is mixed wire.

The hard drive stuff is a bit more complicated.
Remove the wire from the head and ic tray.
Remove the ic from the wire
No you have a piece of aluminium, an ic, a wire, and a read head arm.

The drive arm has a few extensive write ups by myself and other elsewhere in the forum.

Excellent! I will take a look.

As always, thanks a lot. This really helps me a lot.

Happy 4th!
