Any tips on removing heat sinks from old ceramic CPUs? I have two stubborn ones I can’t seem to get the heat sink off.

Personally I use slipjaw pliers (robo-grip). Parallel to the board around the sink and turn counter clockwise.

Some need to be heated. Try a hair dryer or heat gun. Chris has suggested boiling.

I ended up boiling them for a few minutes, then taking a bit of dental floss to the gap. After a bit of circulation loss in my fingers they removed with a swift wack of the hammer.

heat gun or torch. Heat up and use channel lock pliers to twist the heat sink off.

FYI don’t ever use a torch on fibre CPUs
