 Post subject: Dallas chips

What do u guys do with dallas switches after removal? I know to remove tgem but dont know why therefore i dont know what to do with them. Does anything that says dallas gets pulled oflr just the bigger switches that look like jumbo ic chips?

Anything that says Dallas or has a clock on it should be removed. They can be recycled at any lithium battery drop off (see how2recycle).

You can, in theory, disassemble them. The pin board will go as high peripheral. But you still have a battery and now wasted plastic.
Most clocks use a lithium button cells battery. But if you intend to take them apart you should research the technology first. Not all realtime clocks use buttons. Some use gel packs or cylinders. Breaking lithium batteries makes fire. Extreme fire.
Most are best off just recycling them.

I wnded up searching thw number of this chip and it said it was a ram chip. Still remove it?
