 Post subject: Remove or not? Number 2

This ic chip has a geat sink with screw coming up from the bottom.not the whole way threw the board just the chip. Do i remove the chip to eliminate the heatsink or leave it all?

I believe this will have one screw and two pin prongs. Remove the screw and try to snip the two pins if you can remove it it should be removed.
If you can’t, the reviewer will take into account the design and if it can or can not be easily removed.

Thanks for the reply!! I wish it was prongs! Never seen a design like this..... stupid.

Hey, at least it’s not one of those stupid blade server video cards. They rivet steel copper and aluminium all over the place. Turns a high telco board into recovery shred.
Forget the iPhone, try to swap a capacitor on one of those babies.

If it’s held tight, just leave it. It’s small enough to not be a grade changer.
