true. You can always pull out anything from a socket. Within reason.
Keep in mind though a telco board of socketed chips is worth $3.65/lb today.
Ic chips are also $3.65/lb.
So you are left then with less weight in ic chips and a peripheral board.
Again removing ic chips ALMOST ALWAYS lowers your values word to the wise only remove gold pinned socketed ics like processors and gold capped chips. Everything else you're loosing money.
