call some welding supply places in your area... they may do an exchange or buy them or something, or give you something of they pass re-inspection, so it might be worth looking into.

you could also check to see how much you could sell them for if they are certified and see if it is worth paying the recertificaion fee.

Gas tanks are one of those things that you make sure you absolutely cant use them anymore before they go to the scrap heap... T-cylanders can cost a pretty penny if you need one.

What I've done. I fully purged the tank using a small tube and compressed air. Then I left it out for the winter. Then I used a sawzall and cut about a 5 inch hole in it. I left this in a very visible part of my trailer when bringing steel scrap in. They saw the hole, gave me the thumbs up and I was good to go. This was an old grill tank.

I won't recommend anyone else do this because if you blow yourself up, I'd be sad.
